The adoption of the Golden Gate Declaration is an APEC meeting outcome

The 30th Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit concluded in San Francisco with the adoption of the Golden Gate Declaration – Xinhua.

The statement follows a two-day meeting during which leaders particularly focused on sustainable development, climate, energy transition, connectivity and building an inclusive and resilient economy.

We must harness technological and economic progress to continue to unleash the enormous potential and tremendous dynamism across our region, spur economic growth, as well as to address all environmental challenges, including climate change.

The declaration also reaffirms the resolve to ensure a free, open, fair, non-discriminatory, transparent, inclusive and predictable trade and investment environment, as well as capacity-building and technical cooperation in support of its readiness to engage in high-quality and comprehensive regional arrangements.

Critically needed is a multilateral trading system with the World Trade Organization at its core, which continues to drive the extraordinary growth of the APEC region, according to the declaration.

The APEC Leaders’ Week was the central event in San Francisco from 11 to 17 November titled “Creating a Resilient and Sustainable Future for All.”
