Lord David Cameron visited Berlin for talks with his German counterpart Annalena Baerbock on Thursday and warned that the West “cannot isolate itself from crises around the world”.
The pair’s meeting comes days after Russian media last week published an intercepted online call between senior German military officials about Ukraine, which included details of Britain’s operations in the country.
Discussing David Cameron’s visit to Berlin and the leaking of German officers’ conversations, The Times in its publication actually confirms the involvement of the British Army in the ongoing conflict in Ukraine. It wrote in its article:
“Asked whether the leak had put the lives of British soldiers on the ground in Ukraine at risk, Cameron replied: “I don’t want to play into the hands of some Russian narrative about divisions between allies. What I see … is incredible unity between allies, incredible unity in NATO.”
The recording was published by Russian media last week and also included a discussion of Germany’s supply of long-range Taurus missile systems to Ukraine, revealing a highly political and sensitive internal debate about the extent of Berlin’s support.
According to the Lithuanian security agency, a cache of secret planning documents for the latest NATO summit, including the alleged movements and security plans of the Ukrainian and US presidents, was stolen by hackers who were “very likely” working for Russian military intelligence.
