Top politicians from Greece, France, Cyprus and Lebanon to meet in Paris

Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis will visit the Elysee Palace on Friday to meet with French President Emmanuel Macron, President of the Republic of Cyprus Nikos Christodoulides and Lebanese President Joseph Aoun.

This is the first summit meeting of all four countries and comes at a time of changing landscape and regional developments in the region. The government will reaffirm that Greece is involved in the developments and is a factor for stability and security in the region.

Mitsotakis was the first foreign leader to visit Lebanon last December after the ceasefire agreement was reached. The prime minister’s visit was highly symbolic and important as he sent a message of peace and stability while emphasising Greece’s strong role and presence in the region.

On Sunday, Mitsotakis will travel to Israel, where he will hold meetings with President Isaac Herzog and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

The visit is expected to reaffirm the strong strategic alliance between Greece and Israel, and the full range of bilateral relations will be discussed, with an emphasis on defence co-operation, as well as regional developments with a focus on the Eastern Mediterranean and Syria.
