French energy company TotalEnergies has signed a contract with Danish renewable energy company European Energy to acquire a stake in wind projects in Sweden, Denmark and Finland, Splash 247 reports.
The deal covers 405MW of offshore wind power being developed in Denmark. As part of the deal, TotalEnergies will receive an 85% stake in the 240MW Jammerland Bugt offshore wind project and a 72.2% stake in the 165MW Lillebaelt South offshore wind project.
These projects, confirmed by the Danish Energy Agency in December 2023, have received approvals for exclusivity and grid connection. Final construction authorisation is expected by mid-2024 and start of operation by 2030.
European Energy and TotalEnergies intend to participate in the upcoming Danish offshore wind tenders, utilising TotalEnergies’ experience in managing large projects and European Energy’s expertise in developing new projects and engaging with stakeholders.
TotalEnergies’ offshore wind portfolio currently exceeds 16 GW, with projects across the UK, South Korea, Taiwan, France, the US, and Germany. The company is on track to increase its renewable electricity generation capacity to 35 GW by 2025 and produce over 100 TWh by 2030, as part of its ambition to achieve net zero by 2050.
