US President Donald Trump confirmed that India and Pakistan agreed to a ceasefire after days of intense military action, including jet fighters, missiles, drones, and artillery strikes.
“After a night of talks, I am pleased to announce that India and Pakistan have agreed to a full and immediate ceasefire,” Trump wrote on Truth Social. He praised both nations for showing “common sense and great intelligence.”
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said he and Vice President J.D. Vance held extensive talks with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, and other senior officials.
“The Governments of India and Pakistan have agreed to a ceasefire and will begin discussions at a neutral site,” Rubio shared on X.
Rubio commended both leaders for their “wisdom, prudence, and statesmanship” in choosing peace.
This announcement came after Pakistan launched counterattacks on India following airstrikes on three of its air bases overnight. The situation had grown increasingly tense. Pakistan’s Foreign Minister confirmed the ceasefire, but India has not yet made a public comment.
