Trump, Biden won final primaries en route to presidential rematch

US President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump completely summarised the results of the presidential primaries held in the states of Arizona, Florida, Illinois, Kansas, and Ohio on Tuesday.

Biden received 89% of the vote in the Arizona Democratic primary, whereas Trump won 76% of the vote in the Republican primary. Former South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley received 20% of the vote, although she dropped out of the Republican race.

In Illinois, Biden won with 91% of the vote, Trump won with 80% and Haley got 14%. In Kansas, Biden won with 83% of the vote, Trump received 75%, and Haley was supported by 16% of voters. In Ohio, Biden got 87% of the vote, Trump got 79%, and Haley received 14%.

Trump won in Florida with 81% of the vote against Haley’s 13%, while Biden got all the delegates there.

Both Trump and Biden had already reached the number of delegates needed to secure their parties’ nominations on Super Tuesday last week, with the recent primaries only increasing the number of delegates. Biden currently has 2,482 delegates, whereas Trump has 1,623.

Trump will officially receive his party’s nomination at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, in July. Biden will be formally nominated at the Democratic National Convention in Chicago, Illinois, in August.

The two candidates will clash in the presidential election on 5 November in a rematch of the 2020 election, which Biden won and Trump tried to contest the results.
