Trump names Linda McMahon as Secretary of Education

US President-elect Donald Trump picked former WWE CEO Linda McMahon to be Secretary of Education, according to Reuters.

For the past four years, as the Chair of the Board at the America First Policy Institute (AFPI), Linda has been a fierce advocate for Parents’ Rights, working hard at both AFPI and America First Works (AFW) to achieve Universal School Choice in 12 States, giving children the opportunity to receive an excellent Education, regardless of zip code or income.

McMahon, who ran for Commerce Secretary, headed the Small Business Administration in the first Trump administration and was a major donor and one of the Republican president-elect’s earliest supporters when he first ran for the White House nearly a decade ago. The co-founder and former CEO of professional wrestling franchise WWE, she left the SBA in 2019 to lead the Trump-supporting spending group America First Action.

Trump tapped her to co-lead a transition team created to help vet personnel and develop policy ahead of the November 5 election.

McMahon was going to lead the Commerce Department, but on Tuesday Trump instead chose his co-head of the transition team Cantor Fitzgerald, Howard Lutnick’s chief executive, for the post.
