Trump promises to take measures on migration issue if re-elected

Donald Trump described illegal immigrants as “poisoning the blood” of the US.

Trump repeatedly used inflammatory language describing the border issue and denigrating Biden’s policies. Trump made the comment of “poisoning the blood of our country” during a campaign event in New Hampshire on Sunday (AEDT), where he spoke out against migrant border crossings between the US and Mexico, which hit a new high in September.

Trump has been criticised by many people about his vocabulary, but Trump campaign spokesman Stephen Cheung refused to accept criticism of the former president’s language as “nonsense,” saying such language is common in books, news articles and television.

Trump is the leading candidate for the Republican presidential nomination in 2024 and has made border security a major subject matter of his campaign. He promises to reinstate the tough policies of his 2017-2021 presidency and implement new ones that would further restrict immigration.

On the other hand, US President Joe Biden, the presumptive Democratic Party nominee, is seeking a more humane and orderly immigration policy, but he has to contend with record numbers of migrants and the issue is seen as a vulnerability in his campaign.

If re-elected, Trump promises to crack down on illegal immigration and limit legal immigration if elected to a second four-year term.
