Ankara denied accusations that the Turkish National Agency was misusing funds provided by the European Union, according to Turkish media.
Since 2004, the Turkish National Agency has been providing Turkish citizens with opportunities for educational, internship, and volunteer programmes abroad, contributing to both individual and professional development, according to a statement by the Turkish Foreign Ministry.
Since its creation, the agency has supported more than 39,000 projects with grants, benefiting more than 630,000 public members. Some 46% of Erasmus+ funds have been used by universities, 23% by vocational schools, 15% by schools, 11% by youth organisations, and 5% by adult education institutions, according to the report.
All applications submitted to the Turkish National Agency are evaluated by independent experts outside the agency. According to the report, all supported activities are carried out in accordance with the rules issued by the European Commission and under its supervision.
