Two Egyptian pilots died on Friday after a training aircraft crashed at 6th of October Airport, according to Egypt’s Ministry of Civil Aviation. The crash involved a training plane operated by the Egyptian Aviation Academy.
The ministry said the victims were a pilot and a flight instructor. A female student pilot also suffered injuries in the incident and is currently receiving medical treatment.
Authorities have launched an urgent investigation to determine the cause of the crash.
Aviation ministry orders immediate investigation
Egyptian Civil Aviation Minister Sameh al-Hefny directed the ministry’s Central Administration for Aviation Accidents to begin an immediate investigation into the incident.
Officials said investigators will review all procedures connected to the training flight and examine the circumstances that led to the crash.
The ministry stressed that authorities will take all necessary legal and administrative measures once the investigation is complete.
Egypt vows strict action over any negligence
The aviation ministry said there would be “zero tolerance” for any negligence discovered during the inquiry.
Officials added that the investigation findings would help determine whether safety procedures were properly followed before and during the flight.
The ministry also pledged to strengthen oversight and improve aviation safety measures if weaknesses are identified.
Injured student pilot receives medical treatment
The crash also injured a female student pilot who was on board the aircraft during the training exercise.
Authorities confirmed that medical teams transferred her for treatment shortly after the accident. No further details about her condition were immediately released.
Emergency responders and aviation officials arrived at the crash site soon after the incident.
