On 14 March, publications appeared on social media that the Russian city of Belgorod was twice attacked by the Ukrainian armed forces.
Russian officials, including Belgorod Region Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov, accused Kyiv of carrying out the attacks. At the moment it is known about two dead civilians, nine people were injured of varying severity. Damage has been recorded in the regional centre itself and in the Belgorod district.
The first shelling hit the city around eight o’clock in the morning. Air defence systems shot down eight MLRS shells on the approach to the city. One man died as a result of a shell hitting his car. Nine others were injured, according to revised data from disaster medicine.
Three victims are now in serious condition in the regional hospital. Doctors are carrying out resuscitation, trying to save their lives.
The repeated shelling of Belgorod from the Ukrainian side occurred around 11:30. The air defence forces shot down 10 air targets on the approach to the city. One woman died as a result of the attack.
