At least three people have been injured in the United Arab Emirates after an attack launched from Iranian territory, the country’s ministry of defence has said, as regional tensions continue to escalate.
According to an official statement posted on the ministry’s X account, the country’s air defence forces successfully intercepted 15 rockets and four unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) launched from Iranian soil since the start of the day.
The statement added that all of the projectiles had been fired from within Iranian territory.
On the evening of April 4, a fire broke out in the oil industrial zone of the port of Fujairah after an Iranian drone strike. The local government of Fujairah later reported that three Indian nationals had been wounded in the incident.
According to UAE military figures cited by the ministry, since the beginning of the current Middle East conflict, Iranian forces have launched 549 ballistic missiles, 29 cruise missiles and 2,260 drones towards the Emirates. A total of three people have died, and 227 others have been injured in these attacks across the UAE.
