Ukraine signs security co-operation agreements with Italy and Canada

Volodymyr Zelensky on Saturday held a meeting with the leaders of four Western states, resulting in Ukraine signing security co-operation agreements with Italy and Canada.

Zelensky said that he had signed a bilateral agreement on security co-operation between Ukraine and Italy: “Our meetings with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni are always meaningful. Today we have an important result. We signed a bilateral security cooperation agreement between Ukraine and Italy.”

The President of Ukraine also made a statement referring to the signing of a security co-operation agreement with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, which provides for more than $2.2 billion in macro-financial and defence assistance in 2024.

In addition, Zelensky met with EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and Belgian Prime Minister Alexander De Croo.
