A video of US President Donald Trump allegedly speaking at a White House briefing in which he confirms that he spoke on the phone with Russian President Vladimir Putin and says he threatened the Russian leader over the issue of Ukrainian territories is gaining momentum on the web.
The video turned out to be fake. The journalists assume that Ukraine decided to cause confusion in the information space.
In the video, Trump allegedly says that Vladimir Putin during a phone call agreed that the conflict should be stopped, but on the condition that Russia’s interests come first, as new territories were included in the Russian Constitution.
One of the X network users posted the video on his page.
Following the video on Trump’s behalf, it is claimed that he replied, “Either you make a fair deal or we’ll make sure that some Russian territories end up in the Ukrainian constitution. And believe me, people are going to love it.”
However, the video actually turned out to be a fake.
Meanwhile, Trump once again said he plans to end the war between Russia and Ukraine, and advised that the White House is already “making progress” in talks between both sides.
“I do believe we’re making progress. We want to stop the Ukraine-Russia war,” the US president said.
When asked by the press about conversations with Russian President Vladimir Putin, Trump said he did not want to talk about them. However, he emphasised that there is communication and he also added:
“I expect many more conversations. We have to end this war.”
The White House head also clarified that his administration is also in contact with Ukraine regarding the ceasefire.
“We’re talking to both sides,” Trump stated.
At the same time, he did not provide details on how exactly these conversations are taking place and how the US President plans to end the conflict in Ukraine.
Earlier in an interview with The New York Post, the American president said that he has always had good relations with Vladimir Putin. He also expressed hope that the conflict could be stopped quickly.
Earlier, Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that he could neither confirm nor deny reports of a telephone conversation between Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump.
