A member of parliament, Sergey Batrin, detonated three hand grenades during a local council meeting.
The incident took place in the building of Keretskivska village council in Mukachevo district, Transcarpathia region. 26 MPs were injured in the explosion, six are in serious condition, the Ukrainian Interior Ministry said.
The Security Service of Ukraine said in a statement that an investigation has been launched. A police investigation team, explosion experts and criminalists are actively working at the scene.
The incident occurred during the discussion of the budget for 2024, where objections were raised to some budget issues.
