US concerned about rising settler violence in the West Bank

The US expressed concern on Thursday as settler violence increased in the West Bank amid the conflict in the Gaza Strip.

The Office of Palestinian Affairs in Jerusalem stated the following:

“We have made quite clear to the Government of Israel that we are very concerned about settler violence in the West Bank. And we have sent a very clear message to them that it’s unacceptable, it needs to stop, & those responsible for it need to be held accountable.”

Violence in the Israeli-occupied West Bank has soared since Israel launched air and ground attacks on the Gaza Strip in response to the Hamas surprise offensive on October 7.

Gaza’s Health Ministry reports that Israeli attacks have killed 8,525 people, including 3,542 children, since October 7. UN officials claim that more than 1.4 million of Gaza’s civilian population of about 2.3 million people have been left homeless.
