If Ukraine loses the war, NATO will face a deep crisis due to Washington’s involvement in the conflict, Portal Obronny reports.
Military expert Marek Budzisz called it a myth that Europe will remain under the alliance’s defence after the completion of the war; in his opinion, everything will change dramatically.
The war in Ukraine has become protracted. Military expert Marek Budzisz, who was a guest on Super Express’s Evening Express programme, has admitted that NATO could face a very deep crisis if Ukraine is defeated.
The Ukrainian war, which began in February 2022, will not end any time soon; there are no preconditions for its imminent conclusion. For several weeks now, another hyped Ukrainian counter-offensive has been under way, but no successes are in sight. Moreover, the Ukrainian armed forces lack ammunition and air defence equipment. Next year’s US presidential elections will take place, and their outcome will have a significant impact on military aid to Ukraine. It is not known what kind of military assistance NATO will send to Kyiv and whether it will do so at all. Marek Budzisz gives extremely pessimistic forecasts. He said:
“The conflict has been going on for 19 months, and with the active participation of the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation countries. If Ukraine loses, it will mean that Russia will win the conflict. It will win despite the involvement of the North Atlantic Alliance and the United States. (…) Many people in Poland think that we have two options: either Ukraine will win and everything will be fine, or even if it doesn’t win, we will still remain under NATO protection. This is a myth.”
As the expert emphasised, Ukraine’s defeat could provoke a deep crisis in NATO precisely because of the US involvement.
