US Secretary Rubio thanks Pakistan for mediation role in Iran conflict talks

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has thanked Pakistan for its role in mediating efforts between the United States and Iran. The statement came during a meeting with Pakistani Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar in Washington.

Rubio praised Islamabad’s diplomatic efforts and said they support broader goals of regional peace. Both sides also discussed strengthening cooperation in security and economic areas.

Officials say Pakistan has played a growing role in encouraging dialogue between the conflicting parties. The talks come amid ongoing tensions in the Middle East.

Pakistan’s diplomatic role in regional peace efforts

During the meeting, Rubio highlighted Pakistan’s involvement in facilitating communication between Washington and Tehran. He described the efforts as constructive and helpful to regional stability.

The US State Department said both countries agreed to continue working together on security and economic issues. Officials emphasized shared interests in maintaining peace.

Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry confirmed that its mediation efforts were acknowledged. It said Islamabad remains committed to supporting dialogue and reducing tensions.

Ceasefire discussions and ongoing tensions

Tensions between the United States and Iran have remained high following recent military actions and retaliatory strikes. These events have increased pressure for diplomatic solutions.

A ceasefire agreement brokered with Pakistan’s involvement reportedly took effect earlier this year. However, follow-up talks have struggled to produce a lasting settlement.

Despite temporary pauses in conflict, both sides continue to disagree on key issues, including security arrangements and regional influence.

US considers next steps on Iran proposal

US President Donald Trump has indicated that officials are reviewing a proposal related to Iran’s nuclear program. The plan also involves reopening key shipping routes.

A high-level meeting in the Situation Room reportedly ended without a final decision. Officials have not confirmed details of the discussions.

The White House has said it will continue evaluating options. Any final decision is expected to depend on Iran’s commitments in future negotiations.
