U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken will attend a meeting of NATO foreign ministers next week – Reuters says.
Anthony Blinken will attend the meeting to highlight the alliance’s commitment to supporting Ukraine in its war against Russia, and Kyiv hopes to join the military bloc one day.
NATO is not at war with Russia, something Western leaders say they would like to avoid given Moscow’s huge nuclear arsenal.
U.S. support for democracy and regional stability in the Western Balkans should be emphasised. NATO is considering a more permanent troop buildup in the region to maintain tensions, the State Department said in a statement.
The meeting will be held from 27 to 29 November in Brussels.
