Venezuelan Interior Minister Diosdado Cabello announced on Thursday the dismantling of a terrorist group that allegedly plotted to attack military bases and kidnap a high-ranking judge.
Speaking on the state television channel VTV, Cabello stated that the group had intended to execute three major operations, including assaults on military installations and the abduction of the former president of the Supreme Court.
There is no doubt that these terrorist groups are linked to fascist political organisations in Venezuela. The detainees have confessed, and we have identified their connections.
The minister revealed that security operations led to the arrest of at least 15 individuals. Among those detained was a member of the Bolivarian Intelligence Service (SEBIN), who is accused of providing explosives to the group.
The explosives were allegedly intended to be placed in a helicopter, which the terrorists planned to detonate mid-flight.
Cabello emphasised that the group’s activities posed a significant threat to national security. The arrests underscore the government’s ongoing efforts to combat what it describes as destabilising forces within the country.
No further details were provided about the identities of the detainees or the specific political organisations allegedly linked to the group.
