Vietnam’s Deputy Premier Tran Luu Quang welcomed Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi on Friday to discuss bilateral co-operation
Wang travelled to Vietnam on a two-day visit to attend the 15th China-Vietnam Steering Committee for Bilateral Cooperation meeting in Hanoi, where Vietnam would be represented by Tran Luu Quang, Deputy Prime Minister.
China and Vietnam have upgraded their bilateral relations to a comprehensive strategic co-operation partnership.
China is Vietnam’s largest trading partner amid growing exchanges in the post-Covid-19 pandemic era and has invested nearly $1.3 billion in 233 projects in the country in the first six months of this year, according to official data.
China’s investment in Vietnam’s 3,791 projects totals about $25 billion, but relations between the two countries have been soured by maritime claims in the disputed South China Sea.
