Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić thanked Chinese President Xi Jinping for supporting Serbia’s territorial integrity and sovereignty. He noted that China has been very helpful to Serbia’s economic development since 2016, as well as assisting in other areas.
Speaking to Xi Jinping, Vučić said that he was very happy to have the opportunity to receive the Chinese President and that the latter had chosen Belgrade as one of his destinations during his visit to Europe.
Serbian President said:
There is no end to my personal happiness from your visit to our country. By the huge number of people who waited for you and came to greet you, you could see how much Serbia appreciates, respects and loves you. Thank you for this visit.
Vučić met Xi at the airfield. For Serbia, which lives in a strategic environment, this is a very important visit.
During the Chinese leader’s visit to France, Paris sought to soften Beijing’s stance on a number of issues, including the “unlimited” partnership with Russia.
Macron has shown in the past a greater willingness to be friendly to China than some of his EU and US allies – particularly on the Taiwan issue. Still, he has clashed with Xi Jinping’s stubbornness on issues such as the looming EU-China trade war and Beijing’s role in the Ukrainian military conflict, according to POLITICO.
