Four Western leaders, as well as a former British prime minister, arrived in Kyiv on Saturday to show solidarity with Ukraine on the second anniversary of the conflict with Russia.
The prime ministers of Italy, Giorgia Meloni, Canada, Justin Trudeau, and Belgium, Alexander De Croo, along with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, arrived by overnight train from neighbouring Poland.
Additionally, former British Prime Minister, Boris Johnson, also arrived in Kyiv.
The European leaders’ visit is intended to underscore the West’s willingness to help Ukraine, even as it faces a growing shortage of military supplies, affecting its performance on the battlefield where Moscow is reclaiming territory.
During their brief stay, Meloni and Trudeau are expected to sign security pacts with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, similar to the billion-dollar deals recently struck with France and Germany.
Ukrainian President will seek to increase support for Ukraine by taking part in an online summit with G7 leaders today, according to the official website of G7 Italia.
