What is 2024 World Economic Forum going to be about?

The 54th annual World Economic Forum (WEF) is taking place in Davos, Switzerland, from 15 to 19 January 2024 and is dedicated to “Rebuilding Trust.” At a time of global post-COVID recovery, the event aims to address pressing economic issues as well as explore the undiscovered potential of new technologies, BNN reports.

Over 100 nations, international organisations and thousands of global companies are participating in the forum, addressing issues on a platform for open dialogue and partnership building.

Of growing importance – and concern – is the role of artificial intelligence (AI), which has become a key area of focus. Forum participants will delve into the balance between technological innovation and regulation, particularly in AI, as well as the interaction of AI with other emerging technologies such as 5G, 6G, quantum computing and biotechnology.

WEF also addresses the topic of the world’s transition to carbon neutrality and positive environmental impact by 2050. Another aim is to ensure affordable, secure and inclusive access to essential resources such as energy, food, and water.

Hero Motocorp plans to promote electric vehicles (EVs) and premium cars, whereas Kedaara Capital predicts capital inflows into India will shift from China. At the same time, Dr Reddy announces major investments in biosimilars and Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (APIs).

The 54th WEF promises to set the tone for economic recovery and technological progress in the years ahead, with the Rebuilding Trust potentially marking the start of a new global economic trend.
