Chinese President Xi Jinping on Friday called for building an “equal” and “orderly multipolar world,” an official communique said.
Addressing foreign leaders before the opening ceremony of the 9th Asian Winter Games, Xi urged Asian countries to “hold firmly to the common dream of peace and friendship, jointly respond to all kinds of security challenges and contribute to building an equal and orderly multipolar world.”

Xi Jinping also stressed the common pursuit of prosperity and development, urging the people of Asia to strive for common progress and give impetus to economic globalisation.
To realise the common aspiration of integration and rapprochement, Xi Jinping called for promoting inclusive coexistence, exchanges and mutual learning among different civilisations in Asia.
Harbin will host the 9th edition of the Asian Games. The city has already hosted these competitions in 1996. 1275 athletes from 34 countries will take part in the Asian Games. 64 competitions in 11 sports will be held in 7 arenas. Ski mountaineering will be included in the Asian Games programme for the first time.
At the IX Asian Winter Games, 32 sets of medals will be won in the ice events in Harbin, and another 32 gold medals will be won in the snow disciplines in Yabuli.
