Xi Jinping inspects troops in Tianjin, northern China

Ahead of the Spring Festival, or Chinese Lunar New Year Chinese President Xi Jinping inspected troops in Tianjin municipality in northern China on Friday.

On behalf of the CPC Central Committee and the Central Military Commission, the Chinese leader conveyed holiday greetings to members of the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) and the People’s Armed Police, civilian personnel serving in the army, as well as members of the militia and reserve forces.

At a meeting with representatives of the Tianjin Garrison Command, Xi noted that the troops stationed in Tianjin resolutely implemented the decisions and instructions of the CPC Central Committee and the Central Military Commission, made concrete progress in various fields of work and excelled in the fulfilment of major tasks.

In addition, he also expressed special thanks for supporting Tianjin’s flood relief efforts

In the new year, Xi called for the full implementation of the Party’s ideas on strengthening the army and new-age military strategy, as well as efforts to achieve the goals set for the PLA centenary in 2027.
