Chinese President Xi Jinping has pledged to strengthen China’s strategic partnership with Indonesia. He made the commitment during a phone call with Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto on Sunday, according to China’s official Xinhua News Agency.
Xi said the relationship between China and Indonesia holds global strategic importance. The two leaders also exchanged congratulations on 75 years of diplomatic relations.
China is working to build stronger international alliances. This comes as the country responds to U.S. import tariffs introduced under former President Donald Trump.
Starting Monday, Xi will visit several Southeast Asian countries. These include Vietnam, Malaysia and Cambodia. The visits aim to reinforce ties with key regional partners.
