Yemenia’s final operational aircraft hit in Sana’a strike

An airstrike destroyed the last operational aircraft of Yemenia Airways shortly after it landed at Sana’a International Airport.

The Airbus A320, registered as 7O-AFF, had just arrived from Amman, Jordan. Reports from Houthi-affiliated outlets Al-Masirah TV and the Saba news agency stated that Israeli forces launched four strikes on the airport. The attacks hit both the runway and the aircraft.

A video posted by airport director Khaled al-Shayef showed smoke rising from the plane as people evacuated. He said the aircraft was the only one still in service for the airline.

Israeli airstrikes had also targeted the airport earlier in May. Those strikes damaged or destroyed six planes, including three A320s.

Houthi officials claimed that the terminal was “completely destroyed” at the time. Flights to Jordan resumed about ten days later.
