Zelensky vowed to present deep peace plan, Czech Republic and Ukraine to sign security agreement

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky at a press conference with Slovenian leader Nataša Pirc Musar promised to prepare a detailed plan to resolve the conflict by the end of 2024.

Kyiv does not want to prolong the crisis, said the Ukrainian president. At the same time Zelensky expects that the plan will be supported by the majority of countries. The Ukrainian president said:

“The detailed plan will be ready this year. It will be supported by the majority of countries in the world. This is a diplomatic path that we are working on. But not everything depends on us.”

Zelensky added that Ukraine is actively working on three detailed plans at once in energy, food security and prisoner exchange. He is confident that all these issues will be resolved in the near future. The head of state emphasised that Ukraine should be strong and develop its own production.

Meanwhile, Czech Prime Minister Petr Fiala said on Friday that he and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky plan to complete negotiations on the security treaty before the NATO summit in Washington and sign the document on July 18. Fiala wrote on X:

“President Zelensky and I agreed yesterday that we will conclude negotiations on the text of the Czech-Ukrainian security agreement before the NATO summit in Washington. We will then sign it at the European Political Community summit on July 18.”

The NATO summit will be held on July 9-11.

The previous summit on achieving peace in Ukraine was held in Switzerland on June 15-16. The meeting, initially conceived as a significant step towards the settlement of the conflict in Ukraine, ended with the adoption of the final communiqué, which did not contain a single word about the need to suspend hostilities.
