The EU Council has approved the extension of sanctions against Russia over the events in Ukraine until 24 February 2025, the official journal of the European Union reported.
The EU journal wrote on its site:
The decision (on the extension of restrictive measures) will apply until 24 February 2025.
The text notes that the decision comes into force the day after publication in the official journal of the EU.
Before that, the EU foreign policy chief Josep Borrell said that the 13th package of sanctions against Russia will be adopted by 24 February. According to the head of the German foreign Ministry Annalena Baerbock, the new restrictions will touch on the issue of supplies to the Russian Federation of unmanned aerial vehicles.
Earlier, the EU said that profits from Russia’s frozen assets could be given to Ukraine soon.
