King Charles III hospitalised for scheduled prostate “corrective procedure”

The king of the United Kingdom arrived at a private London hospital to undergo a “corrective procedure” for an enlarged prostate, Buckingham Place reported on Friday.

“The King was this morning admitted to a London hospital for scheduled treatment. His Majesty would like to thank all those who have sent their good wishes over the past week and is delighted to learn that his diagnosis is having a positive impact on public health awareness.’’

The 75-year-old royal will be treated by the London Clinic where the Princess of Wales is recovering from abdominal surgery. Buckingham Palace stated that it would confirm his treatment when it was complete.

The publicity surrounding the King’s surgery is seen as an opportunity to encourage other men to undergo periodic prostate checks. The palace reported that the monarch had sought treatment “in common with thousands of men each year.”

In common with thousands of men each year, The King has sought treatment for an enlarged prostate.

Charles III’s public appearances would be “postponed for a short period of recuperation,” the palace informed.

According to the UK’s National Health Service, more than one in three British men experience prostate enlargement problems in their lifetime, with the condition usually related to ageing.

“It’s not known why the prostate gets bigger as you get older, but it is not caused by cancer and does not increase your risk of developing prostate cancer.”
