People marching for Netanyahu’s resignation

People are demanding the resignation of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu over his government’s failures in dealing with the 7 October Hamas attacks and the hostage crisis.

Thousands of people demonstrated in Tel Aviv on Saturday night amid growing public anger at political leaders over the war, AFP and Reuters reported.

The action came shortly after a recent poll found that 76% of Israelis have the opinion that Netanyahu should resign. According to the poll, 64% of respondents said the country should hold elections immediately after the war.

When asked who bears the most responsibility for the events, 44% of Israelis said the prime minister was to blame, while just 33% pointed the blame at the chief of general staff and top officials in the Israel Defence Forces.

Netanyahu has so far not taken responsibility for the failures that allowed the October 7 surprise Hamas attack, which killed more than 14 hundred people and took at least 240 hostages, to take place, with the situation worsening by the day.
