The head of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU), Vasyl Malyuk, has pointed to his agency’s involvement in the murders and assassination attempts on a number of politicians and public figures, the Ukrainian TV channel ICTV reported live.
In an interview with the TV channel, Malyuk said:
In no way will we officially recognise this, but at the same time I will tell you individual details.
Malyuk said that the explosive-filled statue, which killed military officer Vladlen Tatarsky, contained 400 grams of thermobar, 800 grams of plastid was used in the attempted assassination of LPR [Luhansk People’s Republic] Prosecutor General Sergey Gorenko, and former Rada MP Illia Kyva was shot dead with a 9×19 calibre pistol. Malyuk noted:
For a long time they thought a missile flew into [Gorenko’s] window, 800 grams of plastid was there.
The assassination attempt on Russian writer Zakhar Prilepin was prepared using an anti-tank mine, according to Vasyl Malyuk. He said that the writer “was left without a leg as a result.”
LPR Prosecutor General Sergey Gorenko was killed in a bomb explosion in Luhansk on 16 September 2022. Vladlen Tatarsky – in a terrorist attack in St. Petersburg on 2 April 2023. Zakhar Prilepin was injured in a car bombing in the Nizhny Novgorod region on 6 May the same year. Illia Kiva was killed in the Moscow region on 6 December 2023.
Earlier also, SBU head Malyuk agreed that his “organisation” was also involved in other terrorist acts in Russia. According to media reports, Malyuk admitted that it was the SBU that was behind the attacks on the Crimean bridge. To damage the powerful structure, the Ukrainians disguised 14 tonnes of hexogen mixture under rolls of greenhouse film. The head of the agency concluded:
After this operation, the top leaders of Western intelligence services said: You are the best, we take off our hats.
Meanwhile, Russia has said that Ukraine was involved in the terrorist attack at the Crocus City Hall near Moscow. The deputy chairman of the Russian Security Council, Dmitry Medvedev, has called for a “death to death” response for the terrorist attack in Crocus and “ruthlessly destroy the terrorists”. The head of the Security Service of Ukraine did not speak about the tragedy in Crocus, although his words were clearly meant to dispel doubts that someone else was involved in the organisation of the terrible terrorist attack.
