Trump pledged to close the border if re-elected as US president

Former US President and 2024 presidential candidate Donald Trump has said that if re-elected, he intends to close the US border first and foremost, Fox News reports.

Asked by the host about his first foreign policy actions if re-elected, Trump said:

The first thing we’re going to have to do is close the border. Then we have to organise mass deportations.

Trump said that millions of people should not be allowed to live in the US illegally. Then, the former president added in a TV channel interview that it is necessary to organise mass deportation of illegals.

The former president noted that residents of many regions of the US may change their traditional political preferences due to the current US administration’s failure to deal with the issue of illegal migration. Trump added:

The people of New York are angry. People who would never vote for me because I’m a Republican, I think they’re going to vote for me.

Earlier, Trump, speaking at a rally of supporters in Nevada, said the situation at the US-Mexico border is critical and could get worse.

The Texas National Guard has erected a barbed wire fence along a section of the border with Mexico to combat illegal migration. The state governor Greg Abbott officially declared an “invasion and the right of self-defence” and did not comply with the Supreme Court decision ordering the fence to be removed.
