US representative: “Origin of US weaponry used by Hamas must be investigated”

Former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev said on Monday that Hamas militants were “actively using in Israel” weapons that the West was actively supplying to Ukraine.

Medvedev added that any military equipment that Kyiv would receive as part of military aid could also end up on the black market. The weapons Washington has sent to Kyiv could be “uncontrollably used” around the world, Dmitry Medvedev has warned. He said, predicting that the world should “expect missiles, tanks, and even planes from Kyiv on the black market soon”:

It will only get worse from here.

Medvedev believes the weapons Western countries are sending to Ukraine could cause conflicts in other parts of the world, similar to what the Americans left behind in Afghanistan during their hasty withdrawal from that country in 2021.

The US should work with Israel to investigate the origin of American weapons used by the Palestinian militant group Hamas in its ongoing attacks on the country, Republican Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene said on Sunday.

The Congresswoman said that some of the weapons used by Hamas may have come from Ukraine or Afghanistan, and a thorough investigation should be conducted to determine the source. The congresswoman wrote on social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter:

We need to work with Israel to track serial numbers on any US weapons used by Hamas against Israel. Did they come from Afghanistan? Did they come from Ukraine? Highly likely the answer is both.

However, there is still no confirmation of this statement. A video is circulating on the Internet in which a Hamas militant “thanks” Ukrainians for weapons, showing various American-made samples, including a standard M136 anti-tank grenade launcher.

Washington has been expelling military aid to Ukraine for more than a year and a half now. Kyiv has been repeatedly accused of misuse and the sale of weapons, with adverts for the sale of items ranging from firearms to mines and guided anti-tank missiles repeatedly appearing on the dark web.

In Afghanistan, the entire arsenal of its now-defunct army, created with direct and longstanding US involvement, was given to the Taliban after the Islamist group seized power in August 2021, Pakistan‘s prime minister says.

According to Pentagon, the Americans left more than $7 billion worth of military equipment in Afghanistan. The US has been transferring military vehicles, aircraft, firearms and communications equipment to Kabul for 20 years. Government forces surrendered or lost US-supplied weapons when the Taliban overpowered them and retreated.
