Morawiecki published his comments in the midst of an intense election campaign for the parliamentary elections to be held on October 15.
Poland, Hungary and Slovakia imposed an embargo on Ukrainian agricultural products from April to September 15 to prevent oversaturation of domestic markets. Only the transit of sealed goods that cannot be delivered by other means is allowed.
Janusz Wojciechowski, the EU’s agriculture commissioner, said on Tuesday he was making efforts to extend the embargo. He previously served as Poland’s Minister of Agriculture.
Poland supports Ukraine with military and humanitarian aid to fight the Russian invasion. However, after farmers’ protests, Warsaw had to reconsider the issue of importing Ukrainian agricultural products.
